Tip for July 1998: Committee Stress

Are you suffering from committee stress? Do you find that you spend most of your working life at pointless meetings, which are no use to you whatsoever in your effective execution of your duties?

Don't worry, Marc has the answer. Just follow these ? simple steps:
1. Relax, take a deep breath, and take control - find a spare two or three minutes during you admin. schedule.
2. Sort all meeting agendas/invitations into two piles on your desk. Think very hard, and place the agendas for all meetings that you don't want to go to in the "NO" pile. Similarly, place the agendas for all meetings that you do want to go to in the "YES" pile. If you are completely honest with yourself, you will find that the "YES" pile is very much smaller than the "NO" pile. 3. Carry paper recycling bin to the edge of your desk, and with a single sweeping action of your arm, transfer the "NO" pile into the recycling bin.
4. Carry the paper recycling bin back to its original location, and sit at your desk with that inner warmth that you get from doing something good for the environment.
5. Suddenly, you will find that you only have a few meetings to attend. You will also find that all the meetings you attend have suddenly become quite useful and interesting.

2. Place all bumph into a single, large pile on your desk.
3. Carry paper recycling bin (you do have a recycling bin don't you?) to the edge of your desk, and with a single sweeping action of your arm, transfer the bumph into the recycling bin.
